Otter PR is excited to announce that it has been recognized as a finalist by PR Daily and Ragan Communications in the 2024 Nonprofit Communications Awards.
Across various categories for campaigns, communications materials, and more, the Nonprofit Communications Awards honor firms that have gone above and beyond to deliver exceptional client service and strategic vision. The Otter PR team is honored to be recognized among such esteemed colleagues by moving to the next round of competition.
PR Daily’s Nonprofit Communications Awards
PR Daily’s Nonprofit Communications Awards were created to spotlight communications firms that “advocate for, build awareness of or raise funds for important nonprofit causes, initiatives or organizations.” These firms use impactful storytelling and diverse and inclusive communications to create groundbreaking campaigns, helping nonprofit organizations achieve their goals of making the world a better place.
“Congratulations to Otter PR,” said Brendan Gannon, Senior Marketing Manager for Ragan’s and PR Daily’s Awards programs. “Your recognition is a testament to the dedication and innovation that your team has poured into your work.”
“Being recognized as a finalist for PR Daily’s Nonprofit Communications Awards is a true honor for our team at Otter PR,” says Otter PR co-founder and CEO Scott Bartnick. “It validates our unwavering commitment to making a positive impact and supporting the incredible nonprofit organizations we work with. We are grateful for the opportunity to use our skills and expertise to shine a spotlight on the meaningful work being done in the nonprofit sector. This recognition inspires us to continue striving for excellence in our communications efforts.”
Specifically, Otter PR was recognized as a finalist in the category of Media Relations Campaign for its team’s work with the nonprofit organization Music Beats Cancer. Led by Dr. Mona S. Jhaveri, Music Beats Cancer is a charitable crowdfunding platform that supports groundbreaking innovations that promise to revolutionize cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, care, and prevention. By partnering with independent musical artists, Music Beats Cancer helps raise awareness and funds for cancer-fighting innovations, striving to eliminate the “funding bottleneck” that plagues the industry and causes too many potentially life-saving solutions to disappear before they can help people.
Otter PR recognized for its incredible Music Beats Cancer campaign
Otter PR has been working with Dr. Jhaveri and Music Beats Cancer for over five years, having gotten the nonprofit and its founder coverage in top-tier outlets such as the U.S. News and World Report, Yahoo! News, TIME Magazine, Fox News, and more. The Otter PR team also helped secure Dr. Jhaveri multiple interviews with TV stations across the country, like NewsNation, WGN-TV in Chicago, and WJLA in Washington, D.C., among many others.
A key component of Otter PR’s nomination was Music Beat Cancer’s first annual Celebrating Survivors: A Cancer Fundraiser event, which was led by David Watkins, the firm’s publicist for Dr. Jhaveri and Music Beats Cancer. The event, which took place on June 8, 2023, at Terminal 5 in New York City, was “kicked off” by NY Giants hall-of-famer Lawrence Taylor “L.T.” and featured a press line on the red carpet and a performance from Led Zeppelin cover band Get The Led Out (GTLO) to honor cancer survivors.
“Working with Dr. Jhaveri and Music Beats Cancer is incredibly inspiring,” said Watkins. “It feels so rewarding to amplify the message of Music Beats Cancer by helping them secure meaningful coverage in the media. Being recognized as a finalist by PR Daily’s Nonprofit Communications Awards is a testament to the hard work, dedication, collaboration, and passion it takes to create a successful PR campaign for a nonprofit organization. But at the end of the day, Music Beats Cancer’s mission and Dr. Jhaveri’s story of resilience, service, and passion truly resonate with not only media members and fundraisers but everyday people affected by cancer in some way.”
“As the founder of Music Beats Cancer, I have been super impressed with our publicist, David Watkins, at Otter PR, and his ability to spotlight the important work of our charity in relevant press,” Dr. Jhaveri said in light of the recent announcement. “We have been featured in media throughout the country, local and national, including a special in TIME magazine. Furthermore, our voice has been heard in podcasts, webinars, and in-person panel discussions at conferences, all of which are crucial to raising awareness of our brand and mission. We have been working with Otter PR for over five years and remain happy with our working relationship and the amazing press coverage we’ve received!”
Otter PR is recognized as a finalist for Best Media Relations Campaign
This recognition joins the growing list of accolades earned by the fledgling media relations company, including recognition on the Inc. 5000 list and the Gold Stevie Award for Public Relations Agency of the Year.
“Receiving honors like this one serves as a powerful motivator for our team at Otter PR,” Bartnick adds. “It reaffirms our dedication to providing exceptional service for our clients and empowers us to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence. We are grateful for the acknowledgment and determined to maintain our commitment to delivering outstanding results for our clients.”
